The Archdiocese of Chicago today announced an update on the Frassati-Lake Zurich Renew My Church. The current structures of the parishes and schools of this grouping will remain unchanged.

Recently, the Frassati-Lac grouping of Zurich feedback and discernment team, made up of representatives from each of its parishes and schools, met to examine and discern future parish, school and church structures for their respective regions. Based on their meetings and discussions with the larger parish communities, they submitted feedback reports to the Archdiocese’s Standards and Recommendations Commission, which includes representatives from across the archdiocese. The commission reviewed feedback reports and other documents and information, including demographics, financial summaries, and parish and group trends.

Over the past several weeks, Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago, the Auxiliary Bishops of the Archdiocese and the Presbyteral Council have discussed the recommendations of the commission. Based on these prayerful discussions and reflections, the following decisions were made:

Frassati-Lake Zurich Group

The Frassati-Lac Zurich Renew My Church group includes the following parishes and schools:

  • Saint François de Sales parish and school (Lake Zurich)
  • Parish of Santa Maria del Popolo (Mundelein)
  • Parish of St. Mary of the Annunciation (Mundelein)
  • Parish of the Transfiguration (Wauconda)
  • Frassati Catholic Academy (Wauconda)

The four parishes will remain in their current structure. There will be no structural changes at the Frassati Catholic Academy or St. Francis de Sales School as a result of the regrouping discernment process.

  • The parishes of Saint Mary of the Annunciation, Santa Maria del Popolo and Transfiguration remain committed to supporting the Frassati Catholic Academy.

Next steps

Over the next few months, all parishes in this group will embark on the next phase of renewal to become stronger, more sustainable, and able to reach out in their work of making disciples of Jesus Christ, of building communities. and inspire testimony.
