Guangdong church offers shelter to typhoon survivors

A church in China’s southeastern coastal province of Guangdong has provided relief to migrant workers affected by China’s first typhoon this year.

Typhoon No. 3 “Siamba” landed on the coastal area of Dianbai in Maoming, Guangdong, around 3 p.m. on July 2, with a maximum wind force above level 12. In Wuchuan city in Zhanjiang province, near the center of the typhoon, the typhoon’s strongest wind and rain severely threatened the dilapidated houses and simple structures where many migrant workers lived, according to Guangdong CC&TSPM.

At this critical time, pastoral staff and members of Meiling Church in Wuchuan City evacuated some function halls of the church as temporary relocation sites for distressed people and workers from Hubei, Guangxi. , Hunan and other places, giving them meals and tea, as well as toys for their children. Some pastoral co-workers also provided emotional comfort and psychological counseling to these unfortunates.
