Many pointed out that the Duchess of Cornwall also appeared to be kissing her stepson, the Duke of Cambridge.
There have also been discussions about why the couples didn’t kiss, with some suggesting it could be Covid-19 precautions and others speculating it could be due to the two women’s wide hats.
The four then walked together in the procession before the service began to mark Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne.

Despite the formalities, it wasn’t the only rather ordinary family moment to shine at the royal festivities this week – with a mischievous Prince Louis stealing the show on the balcony of Buckingham Palace yesterday.
After experiencing ‘discomfort’ during her appearance after Trooping the Colour, it has been announced that the Queen will not be able to attend today’s service.
In her absence, the rest of the Royal Family dressed to impress, with the Duchess of Cambridge stunning in a lemon yellow ensemble.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle – making her first official appearance at a royal event in more than two years – looked chic in head-to-toe white Dior.
A number of guests also appeared to pay homage to the monarch by opting for a range of pink outfits.
